I honestly say the title of this post everyday. It has already been a month since I walked across the stage and received my bachelors degree and it still doesn't feel real. I feel as if I have been home for months (an amazing feeling to have!!) and I have met so many more people. Let's get into what I have been doing for the past four weeks.
As the titles states, I am currently in a high of life moments right now. I have been gone for a while and unfortunately my website and blog have suffered because of it. But this is all for good reason because now I can share with all of you what has been happening since I brought in 2018!!
I bet y'all sick of me saying I'm going to do better and not lol. But here I am gracing my lovely blog with my words. My fall semester went into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (Spongebob reference) and I got swept into all the fun and forgot to keep you all involved. BUT, I bet you guys want to know what I have been up to so let's get into it.
Man oh man, August and September felt like the blink of an eye. I left my internship on a great note. I got so many compliments on my past pieces and rave reviews on my HBCU/PWI debate piece. I decided that the office deserved a present from me so I bought them a delicious cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes (had to buy my fav flavor red velvet). These first two months of school have been great. My friends and I have been soaking everything up and preparing for our last months of college. I finally got my hands on two copies of Scoop, the book came out great!! If you guys want to see a copy I attached a link in my journalism tab. I have started a preliminary job search, but most of my advisors and professors tell me that in the field of journalism and media most opportunities are a here and now basis so I might have to hold off and wait until February or March to start looking. I am also planning to do internships incase the job market is slim when I begin my real job hunting. Let's hope and pray for the best
I am coming to you all from a very elated place. The month of July is always my favorite and this year all 31 days were amazing. The first day of the month is my own special holiday because it is the day that the world was blessed with my beautiful presence! (yes I am being very cocky right now, you have to hype yourself up at all times people!!) My parents went all out for my 21st birthday and I couldn't be more thankful to spend it with them and my friends at the annual Essence Festival in New Orleans. I got my first legal drinks at Fat Tuesday (pictured below), I saw some of my favorite neo-soul artists perform live, ate gumbo at an actual swamp and I got to hang on Bourbon Street in the height of the summer. I said I was going to pig out but I really didn't lol. The gumbo was delicious and my mom made some rotel grits that were gone within the first 15 minutes of her serving them. Everything else that weekend was cheap snacks and alcohol lol, every 21 year olds dream. It was a perfect weekend.
I am really bad at this up to date stuff. But I'm getting better at it!! Soon I'll be regularly posting every month like I want to be. Well as you can tell by the date it is summer time and I am no longer in school, so I can't blame my lack of blogging on studies. But what I can say is that I have done more cool things both with food and life. Life wise: The magazine class I took was a lot of fun. We successfully produced a magazine for the College of Communication and Information. I will be getting physical copies once I return to school. I got to work Destination Imagination which is an INTERNATIONAL competition for grade school students. It was at the end of May so right after exams ended I took a short trip home and returned to Knoxville to get to work. Though I only got like 20 hours of sleep for a collective 10 days I can say it was a fun experience and I definitely want to do it again next year. The best part about the program was that I made $990!! Yes you read that right, my restlessness was a small price to pay for that good amount of money.
Hey all, if you are looking at this post you are probably thinking 'Jo this is not a picture of food, what the heck have you been doing all month?' Well for those of you who live under a rock, the month of March is big in college for one reason and one reason only: Spring Break. My month of March this year consisted of two trips that have literally made me do a 180 in my goals and aspirations.
DISCLAIMER: I am about to say a cliche saying, no one come for my throat. It's a new year which means new goals and aspirations. Rather than workout goals, mine center around food. As you all can see, I haven't cooked anything in months, and that's what I wanted this blog to be about. So I am tweaking my ways.
Hello beautiful people!! First off this website is mostly to keep up with my work. But my work includes anything I do, and eating/cooking is something I do best!! I am beyond excited to be moved into the nicest (in my opinion) dorm on my campus. The only reason why I am saying this is because I finally get to have a full kitchen to play in. Of course I had to wait until I bought all the kitchen stuff I needed but I have begun the process to becoming a chef of sorts. I have played around with recipes but nothing is more satisfying than when my friends tell me they enjoy my food.
