I am coming to you all from a very elated place. The month of July is always my favorite and this year all 31 days were amazing. The first day of the month is my own special holiday because it is the day that the world was blessed with my beautiful presence! (yes I am being very cocky right now, you have to hype yourself up at all times people!!) My parents went all out for my 21st birthday and I couldn't be more thankful to spend it with them and my friends at the annual Essence Festival in New Orleans. I got my first legal drinks at Fat Tuesday (pictured below), I saw some of my favorite neo-soul artists perform live, ate gumbo at an actual swamp and I got to hang on Bourbon Street in the height of the summer. I said I was going to pig out but I really didn't lol. The gumbo was delicious and my mom made some rotel grits that were gone within the first 15 minutes of her serving them. Everything else that weekend was cheap snacks and alcohol lol, every 21 year olds dream. It was a perfect weekend.
My internship has been so active and I have been consumed by the news world and I LOVE it! I have been published about 7-8 times now and I have a really big college piece coming out at the end of my time here at Tri-State. I have one week left before I travel back to Knoxville for school so I have been doing what I do best: entertaining friends with food and hanging. I tweaked my Alfredo recipe and ventured into new territory and made hamburger steaks and cream of spinach. I have been experimenting with making gravy but I think I'm getting the hang of it. As always I will be tweaking as I keep preparing dishes. The foods were big hits as always so I can add that recipe to my book.
I can't believe in 3 weeks I will begin my senior year of college. This day has been a long time coming but at the same time I feel like it came quicker than expected. This internship has given me all types of hope form my future and new beginnings always bring new adventures in food land which is always a treat for everyone.
